Plymouth’s Public Health System
The Public Health System in Plymouth is vast and encompasses various stakeholders. The mission to prevent illness, disease, and injury to the public involves coordinated efforts that can often become complex. Public health promotion, interventions, policies, and strategic thinking requires the participation and cooperation of organizations that cut across all professions with the local Public Health Department and the Board of Health at the hub for a healthy Plymouth.
Public Health Newsroom
One of our goals within the Public Health Department is to educate and promote healthy lifestyles ranging from access to care, environmental health, aging population health, chronic disease, infectious disease, and food systems and safety. It is also planned to discuss other various community and environmental health topics. Our Public Health Department heavily relies on data that is both quantitative (using statistics) and qualitative (using words to understand thoughts/opinions) that tell a compelling story of value that may be useful to the public on a selected topic. We regularly update our Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook pages with news.
Core Public Health Services
We’re dedicated to making sure that Plymouth is a healthy place for people to learn, live, work, and play. In order to do that we place our priority on core public health services by working across our local public health system with local, regional, state, and national level stakeholders. This is central to our mission because it allows this Department to deliver effective positive health outcomes that have both a short and long-term focus.
