Vectorborne diseases like mosquito and tick-borne diseases usually involve transmission of a disease from an insect to a human. The Plymouth Public Health Department performs vectorborne surveillance in both of these areas. Our geography, vegetation, and climate during the summer and spring months are opportune times for observing spikes in our tick and mosquito populations, which can impact population health. We also provide preventive health education to the public in order to protect against the tick and mosquito disease vectors.
