Welcome to the new Plymouth Public Health Department website. You may or may not have noticed a few changes over the past few months. For starters, ‘Health Department’ changed to ‘Public Health Department’ or some may say Department of Public Health. This name change reflects the direction of providing the residents and visitors of the Town of Plymouth with a valuable high quality 21st Century Public Health Department.
We are working with more community stakeholders, collaborating with organizations, and establishing partnerships spanning from the local to national level. For example, the opiate epidemic is negatively impacting the population’s health here in Plymouth and New England at large. In order to help solve this public health problem we are working with police chiefs from the South Shore to focus on primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention.
As the Town of Plymouth continues to grow we recognize that we are a leader to help improve the quality of life by ensuring positive health outcomes. In order to do that we use technology data as a means for operational efficiency, insight, and usefulness for prevention, promotion, and response activities. More useful information that uses data will be provided to you that promotes a healthy lifestyle. Another new highlight is the use of more electronic forms to save you an extra call or a trip to our office in our applications section and contact us section. You now have the ability to fill out an application and provide documentation electronically, but will still have to come in for payment and verification. However, you will soon have the ability, no later than 2018, to make electronic payments and submit all of your documents through our site.
Welcome to the new site, take a look around, and we look forward to serving as your local Public Health Department.
